the challenge

The homeowners wanted to implement technology that could make their everyday lives easier. On the main living level, window openings take up more real estate than wall coverage in a few key rooms, so the convenience of automated shades was a must have. The homeowners wanted to save the hassle of manually raising or lowering shades with an automated system that could manage the light levels coming in.

the solution

Quality Audio Video (QAV) was brought in at the design phase which allowed every technological aspect to align with the homeowner’s vision. QAV chose Crestron due to its reputation of providing comprehensive and customizable solution while enhancing functionality without compromising aesthetics.

the technology

This home is full of floor to ceiling windows throughout the first floor, letting in an abundance of natural light in each room. The living room also features corner windows looking out to the backyard. Crestron motorized shades and drapes were custom woven to match the Harmann&Forbes® shade fabrics. Crestron shades, spanning 15 feet wide and two stories tall in the main stairwell, offer a dramatic solution for controlling natural ambient light, enhancing both comfort and energy efficiency. The matte black finishes in the home are compatible with the black finishes on the window. The homeowners can open or close the shades dependent on sunlight to warm or col the home using the Horizon® keypads. The lighting fixtures vring continuous ambiance throughout the home, strategically placed to highlight art and accentuate certain features. A standout feature is the living room TV, dressed in a custom alloy gold frame, adding a touch of luxury to the living space.

Crestron Home® OS was implemented as the backbone of the home, providing control over climate, lighting, media, and the custom window treatments. Scenes such as ‘Good Morning’ and ‘Good Night’ are available as presets on the touch screens and Horizon keypads to allow multiple actions to occur simultaneously with a single touch of a button. Entertainment scenes for audio and lighting are also available for hosting and simplify the management of the home for any event or routine.

Rounding out the home is the exceptional outdoor entertainment area, integrated through Crestron DM NVX® AV-over-IP technology for the outdoor TV and Crestron DAX® Audio-over-IP for the landscape audio. Specialized lighting was placed throughout the landscape to create an immersive entertainment experience. Guests can listen to the same music or watch the same game, inside or out.
