AUD-EXT-201

Audio over CAT5 Extender for One Unbalanced Stereo Signal & Two S/PDIF Signals

Discontinued

Low-cost CAT5 audio extenders for unbalanced stereo and S/PDIF audio signals.

The Crestron® AUD-EXT Series is a family of low-cost audio extenders designed for transporting analog and digital audio signals over several hundred feet using inexpensive CAT5 (or better) UTP cable. Three different AUD-EXT models are available, each consisting of one transmitter and one receiver. Models include:

  • AUD-EXT-100 extends one unbalanced stereo audio signal up to 2000 ft (610 m)
  • AUD-EXT-200 extends two unbalanced stereo audio signals up to 2000 ft (610 m)
  • AUD-EXT-201 extends one unbalanced stereo audio signal and two S/PDIF audio signals up to 600 ft (183 m)

Crestron Audio over CAT5 Extenders are ideal for use with a Sonnex® Multiroom Audio System to provide one or more audio return channels. An audio return channel allows an audio source located in any room of the house to be routed to any other room through the central audio distribution system.

Each AUD-EXT transmitter and receiver is designed to allow for mounting to a suitable flat surface or to a single rack rail in the back of an equipment rack. Three units can also fit neatly side-by-side on a standard 1U 19" rack shelf. AUD-EXT devices are completely passive, eliminating any extra cables or power supplies. Connecting a transmitter to its companion receiver requires just a single high-quality CAT5 (or better) UTP cable[1].
