The HZ‑DIMEX is a Horizon™ in‑wall forward phase dimmer that controls incandescent, magnetic low voltage, and tungsten‑halogen loads. Its design matches the entire line of Horizon dimmers, switches, and keypads, making it a great addition to new or retrofit installations.
Faceplate Sold Separately
The HZ‑DIMEX is a Horizon™ in‑wall forward phase dimmer that controls incandescent, magnetic low voltage, and tungsten‑halogen loads. Its design matches the entire line of Horizon dimmers, switches, and keypads, making it a great addition to new or retrofit installations.
NOTE: Faceplates are not included. Refer to the HZ‑FP‑G series faceplates for more information.
Integrated Keypad
Supporting up to five buttons, the HZ‑DIMEX is configurable for a variety of applications. Because the dimmer is attached to the Crestron® network, it can function as a keypad to trigger remote actions or as a switch for nondimmable loads.
Multiway Control
The HZ‑DIMEX supports load control from multiple locations. Up to four HZ‑KPEX or HZ‑AUX devices1 can be connected to a traveler wire in a traditional three- or four-way circuit to dim the load attached to the HZ‑DIMEX. The HZ‑KPEX provides backlit, engravable button caps for multiway control, while the HZ-AUX provides a single large rocker button.
Multigang Expansion
Up to four devices may be installed side‑by‑side in a multigang electrical box with a compatible Horizon faceplate (HZ‑FP‑G series).1 All buttons in a multigang arrangement align to form one continuous control surface.
NOTE: Derating is required for multigang installations. Refer to the HZ‑DIMEX Quick Start at crestron.com/manuals (Doc. 8287) for derating information.
infiNET EX Communications
infiNET EX wireless technology provides two‑way RF communications throughout a residential or commercial structure without the need for physical control wiring. Each infiNET EX device acts as an expander by sending command signals to other infiNET EX devices in range (approximately 150 ft (46 m) indoors) to ensure reliability and stability.2
The HZ‑DIMEX communicates with a control system via a CEN‑GWEXER1 or newer infiNET EX Wireless Gateway. Up to 100 infiNET EX devices may coexist on a wireless network.
Field-Replaceable Button Caps
The preinstalled rocker button cap on the HZ‑DIMEX is field replaceable, allowing for engravable multi‑button configurations.
Multicolor Backlit Button Engraving
Horizon button caps are laser engravable to identify each button's function. RGB LED backlights illuminate the engraved labels and can be adjusted for custom color backlighting. A built‑in ambient light sensor enables auto‑dimming of the backlight brightness according to day and night mode presets.
Each button's backlight provides feedback by changing color, intensity, or both. The backlight can also flash to show that an action is being performed.
Customizable Faceplates
Horizon device faceplates (sold separately) are customizable for any décor. Color‑matched top and bottom trim pieces may be swapped easily after installation with custom trim fabricated from solid materials such as wood, metal, marble, engineered stone, or Corian® solid surface. Contact a Crestron representative, or refer to Crestron True Blue Support Online Help Answer ID: 1000140, to obtain specifications and CADs for the fabrication of custom trim. Paintable trim is also available separately.
Note: The faceplate trim is attached magnetically, which may inhibit use in locations where tampering may occur.
