ZUMNET-GATEWAY

Zūm® Net Wireless Gateway for Zūm Light Control System

Enables wireless communication between a Zūm Floor Hub and a network of Zūm Network Bridges.

The Zūm® Net Wireless Gateway (ZUMNET‑GATEWAY) is a 2‑way RF wireless transceiver designed for use with Crestron® Zūm Net wireless devices. The ZUMNET‑GATEWAY facilitates wireless communications between rooms that are equipped with a Zūm Network Bridge (ZUMMESH‑NETBRIDGE). The ZUMNET‑GATEWAY relays control between the rooms and the Zūm Hub (ZUM-HUB4). Networking each room with the Zūm Hub allows each room to be centrally monitored, managed, and controlled as part of a complete Zūm enterprise lighting solution.

Zūm Across the Enterprise
Zūm delivers cutting-edge wireless lighting control and heightened energy efficiency for the intelligent enterprise. With each room wirelessly networked to a Zūm Hub, Zūm synergizes lighting control across the enterprise by providing centralized monitoring, management, and reporting capabilities. Zūm Net wireless communication is enabled by simply adding a Zūm Network Bridge to each room and pairing it with the Zūm Net Wireless Gateway, which connects via Ethernet to the Zūm Hub’s Control Subnet port.

Zūm Net Wireless Technology
Ultra-reliable Zūm Net wireless technology provides steadfast 2-way RF communications throughout a commercial structure without the need for physical control wiring. Employing a Wi-Fi® communication friendly 2.4 GHz mesh network topology, every Zūm Net device acts as a routing node, relaying wireless commands between the Zūm Net gateway and all the other Zūm Net devices to ensure that every command reaches its intended destination without disruption.2 Each Zūm Net device that is added to the network effectively increases the range and stability of the entire network by providing multiple redundant signal paths. The wireless range between any two Zūm Net devices is typically 100 feet (31 meters).2

Easy Setup
Setting up a network of Zūm Net devices is simple, utilizing dynamic discovery to locate and acquire each device automatically. The Zūm Net gateway can support up to 50 Zūm Network Bridges.2 A complete Zūm enterprise lighting system commonly consists of multiple Zūm Net gateways and Zūm hubs dispersed throughout a building or campus.

Single‑Wire Hookup
The ZUMNET‑GATEWAY communicates with the Zūm Hub over Ethernet and gets its operating power over the same Ethernet connection using PoE (Power over Ethernet) technology. PoE simply requires the presence of an 802.3af or 802.3at PoE power source.

  • Crestron offers the PWE-4803RU PoE Injector, which connects inline with the Ethernet cable, allowing for installation at any convenient location between the gateway and the floor hub (or network switch if implemented). The PWE-4803RU is capable of powering a single gateway, and is sold separately.
  • Crestron also offers Ethernet switches with built-in PoE (models CEN-SW-POE-5 and CEN-SWPOE-161), affording a complete networking solution capable of providing PoE for multiple gateways and other PoE devices. Using an Ethernet switch with built-in PoE eliminates the need for individual PoE Injectors.

As an alternative to PoE, the ZUMNET‑GATEWAY can be powered using an optional 24VDC power pack, model PW‑2407WU.1

Integrator Friendly Enclosure
The ZUMNET‑GATEWAY features the Crestron IFE form factor, a compact Integrator Friendly Enclosure design that fits almost anywhere and enables a variety of installation options. Using the included mounting bracket, it can be fastened to most flat surfaces or snapped onto a standard DIN rail. Rack mount and pole mount kits are also available separately.1

  1.  Item(s) sold separately. Refer to each product’s spec sheet for more information.
  2. “Zūm Net” refers to the wireless mesh network that connects one or more rooms with a Zūm Hub, and consists of one Zūm Net Wireless Gateway and one or more Zūm Network Bridges. Each Zūm Network Bridge functions as a routing node, which relays the signals it receives on to any other Zūm Net devices within range. This effectively extends the total range of the network and provides multiple redundant signal paths for extra reliability. A maximum of six “hops” across routing nodes is allowed, although a maximum of three is recommended. Up to 50 Zūm Net devices are permitted per gateway. Refer to the “Installation and Setup of Crestron RF Products, Best Practices” guide (Doc # 6689) for additional guidelines.
